About Carrum Rowing Club

The Carrum Rowing Club (CRC) is located at the National Water Sports Centre (NWSC) on the Patterson River, Riverend Rd, Bangholme. Entrance to Riverend Rd is off Thames Promenade at Chelsea Heights or take the Chelsea exit off the Mornington Peninsula Freeway.

Established in 1991, CRC has a dedicated enthusiastic membership ranging in age from 13 years to the mid seventies and is welcoming to new members regardless of their ability, age or gender. The boats are modern and well maintained and you will have the opportunity to row all classes of boat, from the single scull to eight. Both state of the art racing boats to basic training/learners boats are available.

CRC runs an active beginners course followed up with professional coaching. All club members are encouraged to take part in club activities including regattas throughout the year. Members row all year round with the course open every day at set times exclusively for rowing. The primary rowing times are Tuesday 5:45am to 7:15am, Thursday 4pm to 7:30pm and Saturday morning 6am/7am (summer/winter) to midday. The beginners program is held on Sunday mornings at 6:30am.

CRC has an active rowing partnership with Frankston High School and many members row through school and eventually join the club. Students from any school are welcome to join the club through the beginners program.

Within the grounds, the club has a number of motor boats which are used for coaching, buoying and marshaling during regattas. It also has a well equipped gym situated under the boat shed including Concept 2 Rowing Machines (ergos), BikeErgs, watt bikes and free weights.

The club also runs the Alan Goode Café which is used as a meeting area after rowing each week as well as a general meeting and function room. It is located opposite the finishing tower. It is available for all members of the club for private use. The Café is open to the public during regattas.

About our Head Coach - Drew Holman

Drew has an extensive rowing history as a successful club level athlete since the early 1990s, winning many state and national championship medals in various boat classes over the years, as well as competing in the semi-finals at the world-famous Henley Royal Regatta in the UK on two occasions. Drew also has significant coaching credentials including at private schools as well as Head Coach at another Melbourne based community rowing club for 5 years. Drew's extensive experience at the community rowing club level gives him a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges of a small rowing club like Carrum, and his personal values are closely aligned with those of our management team (inclusiveness and competitiveness), making him an excellent asset to Carrum. Drew joined Carrum in 2019, driving the most successful era of the club to date, including podium finishes at National Championships, countless Masters National Titles, and multiple athletes representing Victoria.

Drew is supported by a small team of volunteer coaches to ensure all members progress in their skills and ability.
